MISSION STATEMENT:  To provide an opportunity for Basic Skill skaters to develop their skating skills in a fun, competitive environment.

SERIES INFORMATION - Skaters Participation

REQUIRED:

  1. Skaters must sign up for the PNW Basic Skills Series before they compete at their first competition within the Approved Series Competitions in order for them to accumulate points from that competition.  Signing up a skater for the Series is free and is a one-time step.

  2. Results from any Approved Series Competition prior to signing up for the Series will not be awarded any points.

SKATER ELIGIBILTY RULES:

A skater is eligible if:

  1. Skater has registered for the series prior to competing at an Approved Series Competition.

  2. Skater is a member of either of the following:

  • Skater is a full member of a club that is a member of the Pacific Northwest Interclub (PNIC) or Oregon Skating Council (OSC) interclub associations.

OR

  • Skater is a member of an associated rink Learn to Skate (LTS) programs that are affiliated with PNIC or OSC (Example- Seattle Skating Club & Lynnwood Skating School) or a new rink with skating school and awaiting USFS membership as a provisional club status and have turned in proper application to join one of the interclubs.

FREE SKATE PROGRAMS ONLY:

  • The competition is open to ALL skaters who are currently eligible (ER 1.00) members of either the LTS USA Program and/or are full members of U.S. Figure Skating that are members of a PNIC and/or OSC club. 

  • All Snowplow Sam 1-4, Basic 1- 6, Pre FS, FS 1-6 (Aspire 1-4 as of Jan 1st) and Adult 1-6 skaters are eligible. 

  • Skaters must compete in a minimum of 3 Approved Series Competitions before the deadline of August 31, 2024 (see list below). 

  • A skater may continue to move up and will compete at the PNW Series Championship event at the final level of their last series competition.

  • A skater cannot compete at two different FS levels in the same competition.

  • A skater cannot compete over Aspire 4 or Adult 6 during the series timeline of Oct 1, 2023-Aug 31, 2024.

  • A skater can take no higher test than their Pre-Preliminary Skating Skills or Adult Pre-Bronze Skating Skills. 

Each competition will have its own entry requirement, please read the entire announcement for each competition.

SCORING

  • Skaters will earn points based on placements at Approved Series Competitions. 

  • Skater’s accumulated points from Approved Series Competitions will be used to determine who will be invited to PNW Series Championship to be held in conjunction with PNIC Championships at Snoqualmie-Sno King Ice Rink, Sept. 19-22, 2024.

  • Scores will be based on the top three competition scores for each skater.   

  • The system for scoring points will be as follows: 

    • 1st place 6 points

    • 2nd place 5 points

    • 3rd place 4 points

    • 4th place 3 points

    • 5th place 2 points

    • 6th place 1 point

      • A skater will be awarded only 3 points if they compete in a single skater event.

SERIES INFORMATION - Competition Participation

The competition LOC must register to be an Approved Series Competition.

REQUIRED: 

  1. A competition must register to be an Approved Series Competition.

  2. The competition must be organized and operated by a PNIC or OSC member club.

RULES AND INFORMATION:

  • PNW Basic Skills Series is for PNIC & OSC Club Members and associated rink LTS programs that are affiliated with PNIC or OSC (Example- Seattle Skating Club & Lynnwood Skating School) or a new rink with skating school and awaiting USFS membership as a provisional club status and have turned in proper application to join one of the interclubs.

  • Series Information must be included in Competition Announcement to be part of PNW Basic Skill Series. 

  • PNW Basic Skills Series Approved competitions must have a LTS or USFS approved sanction and requires a chief referee or chief accountant who has an USFS appointment. 

  • Approved Series Competition will be available to all participating clubs or affiliated LTS programs listed on the following websites.

SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT:

  • PNW Series Championship will be held in conjunction with PNIC Championships at Snoqualmie-Sno King Ice Rink, September 19-22, 2024.  

  • Eligible skaters for the Series Championship will be notified no later than September 2, 2024 and will be provided information to register with a deadline of registration no later than September 6, 2024.

  • There will be a registration fee to compete in the PNW Series Championship event.

  • All Snowplow Sam 1-4, Basic 1- 6, Aspire 1-4, and Adult 1-6 skaters are eligible. 

  • Skaters will be invited based upon the last level they competed at and also based on the highest overall points for 3 Approved Series Competitions.

  • Skaters invited to the Series Championship Event will be required to compete at the level of their invitation and trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each event.

  • Invited level will be determined by the highest level competed within the Approved Series Competitions.

CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM TROPHY:

  • Team trophy will be awarded to Clubs with the most points scored at the PNW Basic Skills Championship event.

  • Club competitions must be signed up as part of the series to be eligible.

  • Skaters must be signed up to represent club/skating school (points combined for clubs and skating schools located at the associated rink). 

  • Championship Team Trophy will be presented to 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd Place

SERIES PARTICIPANT TEAM TROPHY:

  • Team trophy will be awarded to Clubs with the highest cumulative points scored from Approved Series Competitions.

  • Club competitions must be signed up as part of the series to be eligible.

  • Skaters must be signed up to represent club/skating school (points combined for clubs and skating schools located at the associated rink). 

  • Participant Team Trophy will be presented to 1st Place, 2nd Place, and 3rd Place.
