Oregon Skating Council consists of representatives from member clubs.  We band together to share expertise and resources for events that benefit figure skaters.

Our Beginning

Oregon Skating Council (OSC) was formed as a traditional USFS inter-club association to permit other Oregon clubs to have a role in the planning and execution of the 1978 Nationals.

The mission of the Oregon Skating Council (OSC) is to promote the sport of figure skating  in Oregon. OSC also serves those areas of Washington, California and Nevada that are regionally connected to Oregon.  We are recognized by United States Figure Skating (USFS) as an inter-club composed of clubs that are members of USFS.  Only a USFS skating club may be a member of OSC. Membership in OSC is not exclusive. A USFS skating club that is a full member of OSC may at the same time and without restriction be a member of another USFS Interclub Association.

Oregon Skating Council fundraises by attracting and hosting major skating events in connection with our partners at Oregon Sports Authority.   The funds thus raised are used to fund grant requests, mostly from member clubs, for activities that promote figure skating and benefit  members of all clubs in the Council. Clubs are expected to plan their own events that are as self-sufficient as possible, but when extra assistance is required a grant will be considered by the board.

Need To Test?

Figure skating in the U.S. can be either competitive or recreational, and those learning to skate can choose either route. While competitive skaters are required to participate in the U.S. testing structure to eventually compete in qualifying competitions, recreational skaters can also opt to take tests in order to continually challenge themselves and their abilities.

The official tests of U.S. Figure Skating may be taken by all figure skaters who are members of a member club or collegiate club, individual members who are currently registered with U.S. Figure Skating and are otherwise qualified under these rules, as well as by members of a member association of the ISU.
